Parts of Effective Lesson Plan

Getting a Lesson Started. Starting a lesson with a warming up activity is really important. This activity gets students ready and interested in the lesson. A good lesson-plan needs time for this warm-up part. Warming up gets students thinking about what they already know. It also gets them excited about what they’re going to learn. Skipping this step is not a good idea. Teachers should use what students already know to help them learn new things. Even though warming up is helpful, teachers shouldn’t spend too much time on it.

Different Ways to Teach. Teachers have different ways to teach the same thing. First, teachers need to know what they want to teach and get students ready for the lesson. Then they use methods and steps to help students learn. For reading, teachers might ask questions to guide students while reading a text. In listening, they might ask questions before playing something for students to listen to. For speaking, teachers can set up activities where students talk to each other, like role-playing. When it comes to language areas like vocabulary and grammar, teachers can introduce new words and rules to the class. Then students practice using them in sentences. All these methods help students learn and use different language skills.

Checking How Well Students Learn. A good teacher should see if students are learning what they’re teaching. Assessment is like tools, ways and steps to figure out how much students know about a topic. Teachers can turn their teaching goals into questions to see if students can answer them. Teachers shouldn’t expect students to understand everything perfectly. But the more students understand, the better the teaching is. Teachers can improve their teaching methods based on how students do on these assessments. They can keep track of any challenges they face and find ways to fix them.
