Learning Activity Sheets (LAS), commonly known as worksheets are essential teaching tools that enhance student learning. Originally used as supplements, they have now become integral parts of the curriculum. LAS encourage active learning, support study efforts and help assess students’ understanding of the material. See Quarter 2 Kindergarten Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) / Worksheets SY 2024 – 2025.
The Department of Education’s guidelines under DepEd Order No. 18 series of 2020 emphasize the importance of learning resources including LAS, as part of the Basic Education – Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP). This plan aims to provide safe and flexible learning opportunities through various delivery methods including modular teaching where LAS serve as additional resources. These sheets can be printed or digital, containing questions or activities to reinforce learning.
Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) help students absorb and retain information by allowing them to engage with the material in a structured way. They assess students’ knowledge and comprehension, showing teachers which students grasp the content and which need further assistance. By using these sheets, teachers shift from being the primary source of information to facilitators who guide students through the learning process.
The design of LAS encourages students to identify problems, explore possible solutions and evaluate outcomes, promoting critical thinking and active participation. Although originally general and focused only on previously taught content, modern LAS now include activities that support various learning styles, engaging students through visual, auditory and hands-on tasks.
These activity sheets do more than just review content; they help students apply what they’ve learned in practical ways. By using LAS, teachers can identify gaps in understanding and adjust their teaching strategies accordingly, enhancing the overall effectiveness of their lessons.
Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) are vital tools that make the learning process more engaging and effective. They foster active learning, help assess student understanding and guide teachers in improving their instructional methods. As education continues to evolve, LAS will remain a key resource in creating dynamic and supportive learning environments for students.
