Lesson Planning
Successful teaching depends on planning. But because it’s a concept that’s been around for a while, it can be difficult to describe. However, it is now closely tied to good teaching in that having a plan for the classroom is a crucial component of effective teaching. As preparation is the most significant activity a teacher undertakes, it is asserted that a significant portion of a teacher’s performance is determined by their capacity to create lesson plans.
Entering the classroom without a plan is a very challenging experience for a teacher. A lesson plan is a guide or a framework utilized by a teacher from his/her first contact with students until the end of the course. The professional style of the teacher is reflected in the lesson plan, along with his or her knowledge, understanding of the educational goals, familiarity with the subject matter to be covered, and aptitude for using efficient teaching strategies.
To put it another way, planning is a very helpful tool that acts as a comprehensive guide that reflects the teaching philosophy. The latter refers to the questions of how and what to teach; a beginning teacher would be unable to arrange his classes without a thorough response to these two fundamental inquiries. So choosing which topics to add or eliminate from a course in order to keep the overall manageable is one of the hardest planning tasks.
The art of lesson preparation involves weaving together a variety of components into a logical whole so that a lesson has a distinct identity that students can recognize, interact with, and respond to. the same situation. The act or task teachers perform when they believe they are planning does not always involve writing pages and pages of notes.
An organized timeline for a single class time is a lesson plan. It outlines the content to be covered in the lesson, the teaching strategy to be employed, and the order in which the material should be delivered.
