In the pursuit of assisting teachers in the creation of lessons that possess a distinct and engaging identity, one that resonates with the students’ understanding, usability and relatability, we at have committed ourselves to an ongoing effort of uploading our ready-made 1st Quarter Grade 2 Daily Lesson Log | SY 2023 – 2024 DLL Update!. Lesson Planning

A lesson plan is a timetable for teachers. It shows them what to do at a specific time for a particular group of students and about a certain topic. It’s also a guide or framework used to organize and carry out each class from the first meeting to the final exam. Lesson plans help teachers create a clear, step-by-step learning process to ensure that students learn a lot in a short time. They’re also seen as a super helpful tool that acts as a guide, resource and history of how we teach, who our students are, the books we use and most importantly, what we want our students to achieve. A lesson plan makes it easier for a teacher to move smoothly from one step of teaching to the next and it helps students stay focused on each part of the lesson.

Why bother with making lesson plans?

Planning lessons helps teachers manage classroom time well, making sure lessons are done efficiently within the time available. When lessons are well-organized, students respond better, there’s no time wasted and the teacher’s job becomes easier. The importance of lesson planning can be summed up like this:

  • Helps teachers think about what students will learn in the lesson.
  • Provides a structure for organizing ideas, methods, and materials.
  • Guides teachers on where they’re headed and how to get there.
  • Makes the lesson flow well.
  • Avoids relying too much on textbooks.
  • Shows students that the teacher knows what they’re doing.
  • Boosts the teacher’s confidence.
  • Helps spot potential problems and find solutions.
  • Adapts the lesson to different classes.
  • A learning tool for teachers to reflect on after the lesson.
  • Helps choose activities and materials to meet goals.
  • Links the lesson to the syllabus goals.
  • Before planning a lesson, the teacher should:
  • Read the lesson notes and materials, and listen to related audio if there is any.
  • Consider the learning goals and see if the recommended plan will achieve them.
  • Adjust the plan if needed for the students’ needs.
  • Think about possible difficulties students might face and plan how to tackle them.
  • If the plan suggests questions, prepare more suitable ones.
  • Estimate how much time each part of the lesson will take.
  • If there’s homework, prepare it now.
  • Make sure students get chances to interact with each other.
  • Include a variety of activities in the lesson.
  • Follow a general pattern: short teacher-led start, student activities, short teacher-led wrap-up.
