An effective tool in this approach is the use of Lesson Exemplars (LE). Lesson exemplars are examples of student work from previous years, representing different levels of achievement. By seeing real examples of successful work, students can better understand how to approach their tasks. Some critics argue that relying too much on exemplars might limit creativity but this can be addressed by offering a variety of examples and fostering discussions about originality.
Lesson exemplars when used alongside other strategies can significantly enhance both student performance and their involvement in learning. This approach helps create a more transparent and supportive educational environment that encourages deeper understanding without stifling creativity.
