Quarter 1 Week 5 Lesson Exemplars (LE) Compilation SY 2024 – 2025

Self-regulation is essential for students to effectively manage their learning and performance. It involves students taking control of their thoughts, emotions and behaviors to achieve their academic goals. By integrating Lesson Exemplars (LE) into education such as these Quarter 1 Week 5 Lesson Exemplars (LE) Compilation SY 2024 – 2025, teachers can help students develop the foundational skills, strategies and attitudes needed for self-regulation including judgment-making and self-monitoring.

Self-regulation comprises three interconnected phases: Anticipation, Performance Control and Self-reflection.

In the Anticipation phase, students analyze tasks and establish goals. They consider what the completed task should look like and identify strategies to achieve both short-term and long-term goals. Additionally, students assess their self-motivational beliefs, particularly their self-efficacy or belief in their ability to succeed. A strong belief in their capabilities increases their motivation and persistence even when faced with challenges.

The Performance Control phase involves self-observation and self-control. Students monitor their progress towards their goals and adjust their thoughts, emotions and actions accordingly. This phase includes academic self-monitoring, where students evaluate how their personal processes and actions impact their learning and achievement. Self-control also plays a role as students employ various strategies to stay focused and motivated such as seeking feedback, restructuring their environment or using incentives to boost effort.

In the Self-reflection phase, students evaluate their completed tasks by comparing them against their goals, assessment criteria and desired standards of achievement. They reflect on the reasons for their successes and failures which then influence their motivation for future tasks. This phase triggers cognitive and emotional reactions that shape their approach to similar tasks in the future.

Incorporating exemplars into lessons can guide students in developing these self-regulation skills, better preparing them for the challenges of advanced courses and life beyond school.
