Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum | D.O. No. 010, s. 2024

The Department of Education (DepEd) has released DepEd Order No. 010, s. 2024, which outlines the Policy Guidelines on the Implementation of the MATATAG Curriculum. This aims to provide clear directions and articulate its features, design and standards, ensuring that all educational institutions adhere to the prescribed minimum standards.

The MATATAG Curriculum is set to be implemented across all public and private schools, state universities and colleges (SUCs), local universities and colleges (LUCs) and Philippine Schools Overseas (PSOs) that offer basic education. It aligns with the Ambisyon Natin 2040, equipping Filipino learners with 21st-century skills to excel in both local and global job markets. The curriculum promotes inclusivity, global citizenship, diversity and a future-oriented mindset, aiming to develop lifelong, peace-loving learners who embody the core values of Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, and Makabansa.

Teachers and instructional leaders will use this order as a primary guide for planning and delivering instruction. For teachers, it covers selecting subject matter, implementing teaching strategies, using learning resources and applying assessment tools. Instructional leaders will create supervisory and management plans to oversee instructional delivery, monitor learning gains, and provide technical assistance to teachers and school heads.

The order also amends DepEd Order No. 021, s. 2019, specifically in the areas of Elementary Education, Secondary Education and the Mother Tongue-based Multilingual Education Program Implementation.
