Effective instructional planning is essential in the teaching process. It sets clear expectations for students and organizes activities that help them meet those expectations. This process ensures that teaching and learning are the main focus in the classroom, making the best use of time and addressing students’ needs. By clearly communicating what is expected, it promotes higher achievement among learners.
Research shows that successful teachers plan and organize their lessons well. With the clear guidelines provided by the K to 12 curriculum, teachers can plan both short-term and long-term lessons more effectively. The K to 12 Basic Education Program allows teachers to prepare lesson plans for different periods, ensuring they cover the necessary curriculum.
Daily lesson planning also encourages teachers to reflect on their teaching methods regularly. According to Article IV, Section 2 of the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers, teachers must uphold high education standards and prepare well for their teaching careers. This policy supports teachers in maintaining these standards by emphasizing the importance of preparing Daily Lesson Logs (DLL) or Detailed Lesson Plans (DLP).
These guidelines help teachers not only manage their instruction but also fulfill their primary role of facilitating learning in the classroom. When planning lessons, teachers can use a variety of strategies and methods to teach effectively. They must consider the diversity of their students and choose strategies that meet the learners’ needs.
