Grade 5 Quarter 2 Lesson Exemplars (LE) Compilation | SY 2025–2026

Last Updated: September 9, 2025

This second quarter, Grade 5 learners reach a stage where foundational skills from earlier years evolve into more advanced applications. At this level, students are expected to engage with deeper texts, apply mathematical reasoning to practical problems and participate in scientific inquiry with increasing independence. To support this stage of academic growth, the Grade 5 Quarter 2 Lesson Exemplars (LEs) provide teachers and parents with structured, standards-based resources aligned with the Department of Education’s MATATAG Curriculum.

What Are Lesson Exemplars?

Lesson Exemplars are comprehensive instructional guides designed to ensure that classroom teaching aligns with Content Standards, Performance Standards and Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs).

  • For Teachers: They provide ready-to-use frameworks for lesson planning, classroom activities and assessments, while allowing flexibility for adaptation.
  • For Learners: They deliver structured lessons that connect academic skills with real-life applications, ensuring both mastery and meaningful learning.

The Grade 5 Quarter 2 Lesson Exemplars serve as a roadmap for Weeks 1–8, ensuring a smooth transition from foundational Quarter 1 competencies into deeper, more applied learning experiences.

Grade 5 Quarter 2 Lesson Exemplars Coverage

The exemplars for Quarter 2 integrate knowledge, skills and values across major subject areas:

  • English. Exploring literary and informational texts in greater depth, using context clues to infer meaning and enhance comprehension, writing focused outputs such as essays, reflections, and letters, strengthening grammar, vocabulary, and structured communication skills.
  • Filipino. Engaging with narratives and expository passages rooted in Filipino culture, advancing grammar application through writing and oral activities, creating reflective and narrative compositions that foster cultural pride, developing fluency and appreciation for the national language.
  • Mathematics. Introduction and mastery of fractions and decimals, solving practical word problems involving money, time, and measurement, building logical reasoning and accuracy through computation exercises, applying mathematics to everyday decision-making scenarios.
  • Science. Studying matter, ecosystems, and Earth processes, conducting classroom experiments and observations, linking science concepts to environmental care and daily life, cultivating curiosity and critical thinking through inquiry-based tasks.
  • Araling Panlipunan. Exploring Philippine history, geography, and regional diversity, studying national heroes, events, and cultural contributions, developing mapping and timeline interpretation skills, fostering civic awareness, responsibility, and national pride.
  • EPP / TLE. ICT: Basic typing and document processing skills, Agriculture: Gardening and crop care projects, Home Economics: Food preparation and simple home management tasks, Industrial Arts: Basic repairs and practical projects for everyday life.
  • MAPEH (Music, Arts, PE, Health).
  • Music: Singing folk songs, reading rhythms, and applying musical dynamics
  • Arts: Creating visual projects inspired by community and culture
  • PE: Enhancing fitness, teamwork, and motor skills through structured activities
  • Health: Learning about nutrition, hygiene, and personal safety
  • GMRC. Practicing respect, empathy, and responsibility in daily contexts, reflecting on honesty, kindness, and peaceful conflict resolution, engaging in activities that nurture character development alongside academics.

Each lesson exemplar follows a progressive structure from Week 1 to Week 8, integrating activities, formative assessments and summative tasks to ensure learners are fully prepared for the Quarter 2 Periodical Test.

Why Are Grade 5 Quarter 2 Lesson Exemplars Important?

The second quarter of Grade 5 marks a transition from basic competency to more analytical and applied learning. With the help of exemplars:

  • Learners strengthen comprehension and writing for higher-level literacy.
  • Mathematics concepts move beyond operations into real-world applications.
  • Science fosters curiosity and responsibility for the environment.
  • Filipino and Araling Panlipunan deepen cultural awareness and civic duty.
  • Values Education ensures holistic growth alongside academic mastery.

By aligning lessons with DepEd’s MATATAG framework, these exemplars guarantee that teaching remains competency-based, contextualized, and learner-centered.
