Overview of Grade 4 Quarter 3 Week 1 Learning Activity Sheets

The Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) under the MATATAG Curriculum are designed to promote deeper comprehension, critical thinking and values formation through contextualized learning experiences. This week’s Grade 4 Quarter 3 Week 1 Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) mark the beginning of Quarter 3 where pupils advance their understanding of family, society, science, culture and mathematics in both local and global contexts. Each subject integrates real-life applications and Filipino values to strengthen the learners’ development.

Assessment Objectives for Each Subject

English 4 – Literary and Informational Texts. Learners explore The Magic Bahag, a story about cultural identity and self-confidence. Activities focus on noting details, sequencing events, distinguishing author’s point of view and analyzing denotative and connotative meanings. Pupils apply story grammar to understand themes, plot, and moral lessons that highlight pride in Filipino heritage.

Filipino 4 – Mitolohiya (Mythology). Students examine Filipino myths, identifying narrators, characters and the gods in each story. Lessons also train learners to express opinions, reactions and solutions to conflicts within mythological contexts while mastering the use of pangatnig (conjunctions). Creative exercises such as cartooning develop comprehension and artistic skills.

Araling Panlipunan 4 – Mga Elemento ng Pagkabansa. This week’s focus introduces the fundamental elements of nationhood: teritoryo, mamamayan, pamahalaan and soberaniya. Learners identify countries on maps and differentiate features that define an independent state. Through reflective and collaborative tasks, they connect civic identity to national pride and responsibility.

EPP 4 – Mga Pagbabagong Pisikal sa Panahon ng Pagdadalaga at Pagbibinata. Pupils study the physical and personal changes during puberty. They compare these transformations using Venn diagrams and identify proper hygiene tools and their uses. Activities encourage self-awareness, respect for individuality and responsibility in personal care.

Science 4 – Describing Force. The lesson introduces force as a push or pull acting on an object. Pupils learn to classify rigid and soft materials and illustrate how forces act on objects through arrows. Tasks emphasize observation, drawing, and classification, fostering curiosity about how science operates in daily life.

Mathematics 4 – Modeling Dissimilar and Equivalent Fractions. Students visualize fractions using bars, circles and number lines to represent dissimilar and equivalent fractions. They enhance mathematical reasoning and spatial understanding, forming the foundation for comparing and simplifying fractions with denominators up to ten.

GMRC 4 – Ang Malasakit ng Pamilyang Pilipino. Learners reflect on compassion and empathy as core Filipino values. Lessons explore how families respond to challenges with unity and care, integrating moral discussions and community-based examples. Pupils evaluate their own acts of kindness through guided reflections.

Music and Arts 4 – Legends and Folklore of the Province. This subject connects art and heritage. Pupils identify key words related to legends and folklore, create sound effects for storytelling and design costumes inspired by local diwata characters. The activities foster creativity, teamwork and appreciation of Filipino folklore.

PE and Health 4 – Concept of Safe and Healthy Eating. Students learn principles of food safety, the importance of clean water and proper diet and how to read food labels. Through games, matching and true-or-false exercises, they understand how balanced nutrition contributes to overall well-being.
