What Are Lesson Exemplars?

Lesson Exemplars are detailed teaching resources designed to align classroom instruction with Content Standards, Performance Standards and Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs).

  • For Teachers: They serve as structured models for lesson planning, classroom activities and assessments.
  • For Learners: They create a coherent pathway for mastering skills in literacy, numeracy, science and values formation while connecting lessons to real-life contexts.

The Grade 4 Quarter 2 Lesson Exemplars ensure that learning delivery remains consistent, progressive and responsive to the needs of 10-year-old learners.

Grade 4 Quarter 2 Lesson Exemplars Coverage

The exemplars for Quarter 2 address key subjects mapped across Weeks 1–8 ensuring spiral progression and readiness for summative assessments.

  • Filipino. Vocabulary expansion and deeper grammar awareness, analysis of narrative and informational texts, writing tasks on anekdota, alamat, and impormatibong teksto, practice in composing friendly letters and short essays to strengthen communication skills and cultural identity.
  • English. Applied and critical literacy through short stories and informational texts, identifying main ideas, supporting details, and expressing insights in writing, vocabulary building, grammar mastery, and text creation for varied audiences, activities that foster confidence in reading, writing, and oral communication.
  • Mathematics. Mastery of multiplication and division of multi-digit numbers, understanding factors, multiples and introductory concepts of fractions, application of problem-solving strategies in real-life contexts (budgeting, grouping, measuring), reinforcement of logical reasoning through practice drills and visual aids.
  • Science. Study of plants, animals, and the functions of their parts, classification of living organisms and properties of matter, exploration of changes in matter (solid, liquid, gas), application of science concepts to everyday experiences, such as sunlight in plant growth or water cycle observations.
  • Araling Panlipunan. Study of Philippine geography with focus on province and region, mapping activities, recognition of local leaders, and appreciation of cultural diversity, introduction to natural resources and community cooperation, building civic responsibility and local identity.
  • EPP. ICT: Basic word processing (typing, editing, saving documents), Agriculture: Growing vegetables or ornamental plants, Family and Consumer Science: Food preparation and simple home management, Industrial Arts: Practical tasks like simple woodworking and repairs. These areas develop life skills, self-reliance, and responsibility.
  • MAPEH (Music, Arts, PE, Health).
    • Music: Reading rhythmic patterns, singing folk songs, applying dynamics
    • Arts: Creating artworks using elements of line, color, and texture
    • PE: Practicing locomotor and non-locomotor skills through games and dances
    • Health: Lessons on nutrition, safety, and personal hygiene
  • GMRC. Emphasis on respect, honesty, teamwork, and empathy,aActivities that encourage responsibility in school, home, and community, character-building competencies that complement academic development, each subject is carefully mapped in the exemplars, progressing from simple knowledge in Week 1 to integrated performance tasks by Week 8. This ensures both continuity and mastery of learning outcomes.
