Overview of Grade 3 Quarter 3 Week 1 Learning Activity Sheets
The Grade 3 Quarter 3 Week 1 Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) under the DepEd MATATAG Curriculum promote independent learning, comprehension and critical thinking across key subjects. These materials guide both teachers and learners in achieving the curriculum’s target competencies for the start of the third quarter. Each LAS features structured activities and assessments designed to reinforce foundational skills while integrating real-life applications aligned with Grade 3 learning standards.
This week starts the introduction of new topics across all core areas, helping pupils transition smoothly into higher-order thinking and hands-on practice. Through contextual tasks, learners demonstrate understanding of values, science concepts, numeracy and communication skills essential for holistic growth.
Assessment Objectives for Each Subject
Filipino: Learners explore the story “Ang Punong Kawayan” and “Naging Sultan si Pilandok” to develop reading comprehension, sequencing of events and understanding of Filipino values such as humility, respect and wisdom. Vocabulary exercises enhance contextual word meaning while dialogues and dramatization strengthen oral communication and polite expression.
English: The week’s focus is on demonstrative pronouns (“this,” “that,” “these,” “those”) and story comprehension through problem-and-solution charts. Pupils learn to identify and use pronouns in context while analyzing story structure that sharpen both grammar and critical thinking skills.
Mathematics: The Math LAS introduces bar graphs and data interpretation. Learners practice constructing and analyzing vertical and horizontal bar graphs based on real-life data such as class activities and favorite games. This fosters data literacy and comprehension of visual information.
Science: Science activities encourage exploration through movement and force. Pupils investigate how objects move by pushing, pulling, rolling, or carrying and perform hands-on projects like making pinwheels and water wheels to understand motion and energy transfer. These experiments promote collaboration, curiosity and practical learning.
GMRC (Good Manners and Right Conduct): The focus is on self-identity and relationships. Learners reflect on their roles as children, siblings, friends and community members through guided discussions and dramatizations that promote empathy, patience, and social awareness.
Makabansa: The week’s lessons center on the origins of early Filipinos, Homo luzonensis and Tabon Man. Pupils examine similarities and differences between ancient humans and discuss how adaptation and evolution shaped early life in the Philippines. Activities emphasize reflection and understanding of national identity.
