Grade 2 3rd Quarter Week 2 Lesson Exemplars (LE) Compilation | SY 2025–2026

Overview of Grade 2 Quarter 3 Week 2 Lesson Exemplar

The Grade 2 Quarter 3 Week 2 Lesson Exemplar under the MATATAG Curriculum continues to nurture literacy, numeracy and values integration through contextual, story-based and task-oriented activities. This week emphasizes comprehension, real-life applications in Mathematics and community-centered lessons that help learners build language fluency, problem-solving confidence and moral awareness. Each subject encourages active participation, cooperation and reflection on how learning connects to home and community life.

Grade 2 Quarter 3 Week 2 Key Learning Areas and Focus

By the end of Week 2, Grade 2 pupils are expected to:

English: Reinforces phonics and sight words while integrating simple sentence construction related to community stories. Identify and use high-frequency words related to self and community; read and interpret stories to recognize characters, setting and events; and express reactions using simple sentences.

Filipino: Focuses on Alamat ng Bagyo and Alamat kung Bakit Maalat ang Dagat, developing reading comprehension and vocabulary skills. Learners identify story elements, emotions of characters, and grammatical patterns such as pantukoy, lansakan, diptonggo, and klaster.

Mathematics: Read and interpret pictographs with and without scales and determine the number of objects in a group through repeated addition and equal grouping. Lessons introduce pictographs using real-life data (e.g., favorite dishes, harvested fruits) to strengthen data interpretation and repeated addition. Activities highlight equal grouping and skip counting, bridging early multiplication concepts.

Makabansa: Describe community helpers and local landmarks while identifying roles that promote unity and cooperation. Highlight the importance of cooperation in community projects like Brigada Eskwela, connecting civic responsibility with family participation.

GMRC: Demonstrate pagmamahal sa kapuwa through small acts of kindness and helpfulness at home and school. Centers on “Paggawa ng Kabutihan sa Kapuwa,” where pupils reflect on kind deeds, storytelling, and guided discussions to internalize moral values.

Instructional Flow and Lesson Design Framework

Each day begins with prayer, greetings and a warm-up routine followed by story-based or hands-on activities.

  • Day 1–2: Teachers use storytelling, picture cards, and graphic organizers to discuss high-frequency words and narrative elements.
  • Day 3: Guided reading sessions (shared reading and interactive read-aloud) deepen comprehension using questions that promote inferential thinking.
  • Day 4: Learners participate in performance tasks such as role-playing, sequencing events, or constructing pictographs. In GMRC, pupils share real acts of kindness through reflection or drawing.
  • Mathematics sessions involve visual learning through charts and pictographs, while Filipino classes integrate vocabulary games and sentence-building exercises.
  • Peer work, group tasks, and “think-pair-share” techniques are used across subjects to strengthen cooperation and expression.
