The Grade 1 Quarter 3 Week 2 Lesson Exemplar highlights community awareness, family values and foundational academic skills that connect classroom learning to real-life experiences. Under the MATATAG Curriculum, this week’s lessons focus on self-confidence, honesty and cooperation which are the core traits that nurture both intellectual and emotional growth. Learners explore familiar surroundings, practice communication skills in everyday situations and strengthen mathematical understanding through hands-on and contextualized activities. Grade 1 Quarter 3 Week 2 Key Learning Areas and Focus
This week’s lessons allow pupils to apply what they learn to real-life situations:
- Makabansa: Understanding the map of the school and nearby community, identifying landmarks and directions through guided observation. Recognize and describe their school’s location, size and nearby landmarks using maps and directions
- Reading and Literacy: Learning from “Ang Sukli ni Yuno” which teaches honesty, sequencing of events and correct sentence writing. Read and understand short texts such while correctly using high-frequency words in complete sentences
- GMRC: Following family instructions and developing self-confidence and respect in dealing with others. Demonstrate honesty and responsibility in simple daily situations
- Mathematics: Creating and interpreting pictographs based on classroom or community data such as favorite fruits or daily routines. Present, organize and interpret data in a pictograph without a scale.
- Language: Recognizing different sentence types such as questions, commands and requests through dialogues and role-playing. Use appropriate language expressions in asking questions and making polite requests.
Each subject is linked to others, reading connects to values, math lessons use real-life data and language lessons reinforce manners, ensuring that pupils learn holistically and meaningfully.
