Quarter 3 for Grade 5 deepens mastery of core skills while strengthening values and cultural identity under the MATATAG Curriculum. Lessons are practical and interdisciplinary so learners communicate clearly, reason with numbers, investigate scientifically, appreciate history and culture, create with purpose and act with empathy. By quarter’s end pupils read and write with coherence in Filipino and English, analyze data and decimals in Math, explain physical phenomena in Science, discuss colonial history and civic duty in AP, perform healthful movement in PE and Music, produce useful crafts in EPP, and demonstrate compassion and responsibility in GMRC. Grade 5 Quarter 3 Key Learning Areas and Focus
Filipino: Denotasyon at konotasyon, pang-uring pamilang patakda, masining na pagkukuwento, dulang pambata, at pagsasalaysay na may wastong tono at damdamin.
English: Coherence across story elements, figures of speech, main idea and sequencing, use of general references, interpreting nonverbal cues and short functional writings like postcards.
Mathematics: Double bar and line graphs, theoretical probability, multiplication and division of decimals, estimation, and multi-step problem solving with money and measurement.
Science: Safe medicine use, friction and motion, mixtures and solutions, gravity, static electricity, simple electric circuits and building an electromagnet.

Instruction follows consistent models: Review-Development-Application-Evaluation, the 4A sequence (Activity, Analysis, Abstraction, Application), and the 5E cycle (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate). Grade 5 Quarter 3 Materials and Resources
Teachers use learner’s modules, storybooks and scripts, vocabulary charts, maps and historical visuals, graphing paper and place-value grids, science kits for friction, electricity and magnetism, sewing kits with fabric scraps and safe tools, yarn and hooks for crochet, art supplies, improvised instruments, Galaw Pilipinas and cultural dance videos, PhET-style circuit simulations, worksheets, checklists and simple rubrics.
3rd Quarter Learning Assessment
Assessment is continuous and varied: quick quizzes, problem sets, lab observation charts, reading comprehension tasks, oral storytelling, sewing or crochet samples, dance and music performances, AP essays or graphic organizers and reflection journals. The 3rd periodical tests gauge mastery of Quarter 3 competencies across subjects through written items that measure comprehension, computation with decimals, data interpretation, science concepts and procedures and AP understanding of colonialism and resistance. Results are complemented by performance evidence in MAPEH and EPP using clear rubrics so reporting reflects both knowledge and applied skills aligned to MATATAG standards.
