How to Plan and Deliver These Lessons Effectively
Lesson planning isn’t about rigidly following a script because it’s about creating meaningful connections. Best practices include:
- Contextualize lessons. Tie global issues to local realities like linking climate change to recent floods in the community.
- Balance Bloom’s levels. Move from recall to application, analysis and evaluation. For instance, after studying genetics, ask learners to analyze biodiversity in their own environment.
- Blend learning domains. Combine knowledge, values and skills. In Arts, analyzing (cognitive) leads to creating (psychomotor) while expressing advocacies (affective).
- Engage learners actively. Use debates, role plays, or project-based learning. In Health, simulate a barangay campaign on dengue prevention.
- Sequence with purpose. Build forward and backward connections. Genetics (Week 3) can transition into biodiversity and adaptation (Week 4).
- Encourage reflection. Use DLLs not just to document, but to adjust and refine teaching strategies week after week.
