For us in Grade 4, lesson planning has never been about filling up forms or checking off boxes because we know it’s about designing experiences that spark curiosity and build independence in our students. By this stage, Grade 4 learners are asking more questions, exploring ideas on their own and looking for connections between school and real life. This is where the Grade 4 Daily Lesson Log Quarter 2 under the MATATAG Curriculum SY 2025–2026 becomes truly valuable. It isn’t merely a compliance tool because it serves as a companion that guides our teaching flow, helps us link lessons across subjects and ensures that every child is supported. A well-prepared DLL allows us to see the bigger picture. It is where our learners are starting from, how to sequence lessons smoothly and how to balance fun and easy tasks with more challenging ones so students steadily build confidence and mastery.

At this stage, our students are exploring more complex skills. They analyze texts in English, understanding fractions in Mathematics, or discussing ecosystems in Science. They are eager to discover connections between school and real life. For example, during a Math lesson, a group of learners is excitedly dividing a pizza to understand equivalent fractions, while in Araling Panlipunan, others are role-playing as barangay officials to learn about community decision-making. The DLL ensures that these activities are not isolated but part of a well-thought-out progression.

Grounded in best practices from lesson planning research , the MATATAG DLL encourages us to plan with purpose: align lessons with context, balance challenging and easy tasks, and create opportunities for both collaboration and independent work. It’s about making each day in the classroom meaningful—for us and for our students.

How to Plan and Deliver these Lessons Effectively

To make the most of the Grade 4 DLL Week 1 to Week 8, here are some best practices based on effective lesson planning principles :

  • Contextualize lessons. Connect Math concepts like fractions to real-life scenarios (e.g., dividing food during a class ). Use local stories in Filipino or English to make comprehension relatable.
  • Use varied teaching strategies. Blend teacher-led discussions with group work, experiments and role-playing to meet different learning styles.
  • Encourage active participation. In PE, integrate simple games that emphasize teamwork; in Science, let students hypothesize and test ideas during experiments.
  • Integrate values across subjects. For example, while teaching Araling Panlipunan about community leaders, connect it to GMRC values of responsibility and fairness.
  • Reflect and adjust regularly. Review each week’s DLL to identify which activities engaged learners most and where adjustments are needed.
  • By following these practices, the Grade 4 DLL 2nd Quarter MATATAG Curriculum supports us not only in meeting academic standards but also in nurturing confidence, creativity and values in our learners.
