The Department of Education (DepEd) has introduced the MATATAG Curriculum to strengthen foundational learning in early grades. To support this initiative, we’ve compiled Grade 1 MATATAG Summative Tests for Quarter 1, Weeks 1 to 8. These tests assess student progress in GMRC, Language, Makabansa, Mathematics and Reading & Literacy.
All tests are aligned with the latest MATATAG standards and can be used for classroom assessments, take-home tasks, or learning reinforcement.
What Are MATATAG Summative Tests?
The Grade 1 MATATAG Summative Tests are weekly assessment tools aligned with the DepEd MATATAG Curriculum for foundational learning. These tests are designed to evaluate how well young learners grasp basic skills and values taught in core subjects such as GMRC, Language, Makabansa, Mathematics and Reading & Literacy.
Each summative test includes developmentally appropriate items like multiple-choice, true or false and identification tasks. These formats help assess early comprehension, listening and reading skills, number recognition and social awareness.
For teachers, these assessments serve as tools for monitoring progress, guiding remediation and adjusting weekly instruction. For parents, they can also be used for practice, reinforcement or as part of home-based learning routines.
All tests are structured around the weekly competencies under Quarter 1 and aim to build learner confidence, routine and readiness for long-term academic success.
Subjects Covered
Each week’s test includes items from the following Grade 1 learning areas:
- GMRC (Good Manners and Right Conduct)
- Language
- Makabansa
- Mathematics
- Reading & Literacy

How to Use These Tests Effectively
Teachers can use these tests for weekly formative assessments or as part of summative grading in Quarter 1. We recommend reviewing each week’s topic before administering the test. Parents may also use these tests as review tools or homework practice to support learning at home.
To get the best results:
- Review the lesson before the test
- Discuss the answers afterward
- Use test results to guide remediation
Answer Keys and Notes
Where available, each test includes an answer key to help with quick checking. If an answer key is not included, feel free to reach out or leave a comment requesting one.
