DepEd School Calendar and Activities for School Year 2025-2026?
The Department of Education (DepEd) has released DepEd Order No. 12 s.2025 – Multiyear Implementing Guidelines on the School Calendar and Activities for School Year 2025-2026 to help schools and community learning centers (CLCs) efficiently plan and execute educational activities aligned with the Five-Point Reform Agenda of DepEd and the Eight-Point Socioeconomic Agenda of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. These guidelines ensure effective curriculum implementation while maximizing instructional time.
Key Features of the Guidelines
In line with Republic Act (RA) No. 7797 as amended by RA 11480, each school year (SY) must have no more than 220 class days, beginning between the first Monday of June and the last day of August. The new guidelines will take effect starting SY 2025-2026 and remain in force for the following years, with yearly memoranda issued to confirm schedules.
Private schools, Philippine Schools Overseas (PSOs), and SUCs/LUCs may adopt these guidelines but must still comply with laws regarding the number of class days and school opening schedules. Any deviations must be reported to regional offices.
For SY 2025-2026, classes will begin on June 16, 2025, and end on March 31, 2026, comprising 197 class days. The in-person modality remains the standard, but distance learning will be used in emergencies. Flexible learning guidelines will also be issued for specific learner needs.
DepEd has outlined important activities such as early registration, Brigada Eskwela, Oplan Balik Eskwela, health assessments, co-curricular programs and system/classroom assessments. Schools are directed to integrate national holidays and celebrations into classroom learning to optimize time.
Other key features include learner government elections, parent-teacher conferences, mid-year and holiday breaks, professional development for teachers and the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning Program during and after the school year.
DepEd regional and division offices are tasked to monitor and evaluate the implementation of these guidelines. This order takes effect immediately upon publication and registration with the UP Office of the National Administrative Register (UP-ONAR).
