How can DepEd Lesson Exemplars (LE) be effective?
The success of Lesson Exemplars (LE) in the Department of Education (DepEd) relies on how well they support teachers and actively engage students in learning. One key approach to enhancing LEs is integrating student-centered assessment tools like student rubrics and worksheets which promote self-evaluation and peer feedback. By converting teacher rubrics into simpler, student-friendly versions, learners can better grasp expectations and take an active role in tracking their progress. Student rubrics significantly improve the impact of LEs. These rubrics use clear and positive language to outline performance standards enabling students to assess their work effectively. These student-friendly rubrics also promote meaningful discussions with teachers, peers and parents making the learning process more transparent and goal-oriented.
Worksheets further enhance the effectiveness of LEs by providing structured activities aligned with lesson objectives. These worksheets allow students to apply their learning while keeping track of their progress. In science lessons, for example, worksheets can include sections for students to document evidence of meeting specific criteria, such as listing the tools they used or explaining their reasoning.
