The Commission on Audit has ordered officials of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. to refund P35.25 million in unauthorized benefits. The decisions came two weeks after the issuance of two decisions affirming the notices of disallowance on illegal bonuses and allowances worth P183.86 million paid out to PhilHealth officials and employees in 2009, 2010 and 2014. The Commission on Audit (COA) has directed the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to remit to the Bureau of Treasury (BTr) a total of P392.107 million in unused fund intended for an assistance program for teachers and other school personnel displaced by the implementation of the K-12 education reform program.
