Creating a reasonable timeline in Lesson Planning

By summarizing the key aspects of the lessons, teachers can revisit the topics covered in class while lesson planning. There are numerous ways to accomplish this. Teachers can mention the key points directly, ask a student to assist in summarizing them, or even request that all of the students write down on a sheet of paper what they believed to be the lesson’s key points. To evaluate the students’ comprehension of the subject, teachers can look over their students responses. Then, the next session, the teachers can clarify anything that was unclear and then include a preview of the upcoming lesson in their summary of the lesson’s main elements. What connection does the subject have to the one that follows? This preview will pique students’ curiosity and assist them in making connections between the various concepts within a wider context.

Teachers must recognize how simple it is to run out of time and miss out on some of the numerous points they had planned to discuss. They should reduce their list to the two or three most important concepts, ideas, or abilities they want pupils to acquire because a list of ten learning objectives may not be feasible.

Additionally, teachers concur that depending on the needs of the class, they frequently need to modify their lesson plans. Their prioritized list of learning objectives will assist them in making quick judgments and modifying their lesson plan as necessary. They can be more adaptable if they have more examples or substitute tasks. Their adaptability and readiness to fit into the particular educational atmosphere will be demonstrated by a realistic timeline. The following techniques can be used to develop a realistic timeline:

  • Calculate the time needed for each activity, then allow extra time for each.
  • When creating lesson plan, be sure to include the estimated time needed for each activity.
  • Schedule a few minutes at the conclusion of class to address any last-minute queries and to highlight the most important elements.
  • If there’s still time, prepare a second activity or conversation topic.
  • Be adaptable and be prepared to modify lesson plan in response to students’ needs and concentrate on what appears to be more effective rather than adhering to the initial plan.
